A literal translation of the title of this cartography wok by the eminent geographer and navigation teacher reads: "Leveling the surface of the sphere for degree network designs . A guide to teaching". The German geographer and navigation teacher Arthur Breusing (1818-1892) was director of the Bremen Seafaring School. After studying mathematics, physics, natural sciences, meteorology and literature at several universities, Breusing decided to become a teacher of navigation. In 1848, he served as an ordinary seaman on a schooner sailing to Rio de Janeiro. Soon after, he joined the Bremer Steuermannschule navigation school as a teacher where he taught such important figures as the polar explorer Carl Koldewey. Breusing went on to publish several significant works. Fair .
