The book is housed in a double slipcase: a cream & brown paper covered slipcase within a brown outer case with a printed paper label on the spine. There is some light soiling to the binding & the spine is lightly foxed. The spine of the inner slipcase is lightly stained & there are short tears to its front corners. The outer slipcase is rubbed, stained & chipped with the spine & bottom edge partially detached. 143 pages plus 1-page publisher's catalog, unopened. Illustrated with an engraved pictorial colophon, an extra engraved pictorial title & a tipped- in facsimile. The contents of the book are bright & fine. Very good in a fair outer slipcase.

Limited edition of 500 copies.

This year book includes a tipped-in four-page facsimile of a letter from Maria White [Mrs. James Russell] Lowell to Sophia [Mrs. Nathaniel] Hawthorne, with remarks by F. B. Sanborn. The title page is engraved by Macdonald. Good .
