Comprises preface, introduction by von Bernstorff (minister to King Frederic V.), 43 paragraphs and 100 questions composed by Michaelis aimed for the expedition (related to archeology, linguistics, geography etc.) and a mémoire containing articles dealing with the religion, government, language, customs and manners in Yemen. Michaelis (1717-91), a German Lutheran theologian and famous orientalist, was involved with the preparations of the Danish scientific expedition to the Middle East in 1761-67 led by Carsten Niebuhr.
