This work is devoted to the history of the Ottoman empire based on various Turkish sources which Norberg had access to during his stay in Constantinople 1779/80. He has translated parts of major historical works by Gehibolulu Mustafa Ali Efendi (1541-99), Mustafa Naima (1655-1716), Rasif Mehmed (1714-35), Celebizade Isma'il Asim (d. 1760), Ahmed Vasif Efendi (ca 1730-1806), and others.
