Shinshin Meika Kach� Sen 新進�家花鳥� Vol.1 Maria Gab� マリア画房, publisher Kyoto N.D. [c.1935] [Flowers, botanical] Shinshin Meika Kach� Sen 新進�家花鳥� is a 30.0 x 41.6 cm volume with 12 original color woodblock prints of flowers and birds. Maria Gab� マリア画房 was a very skillful woodblock printing house in the 1930s. Their aesthetic sense differs from others of the period; the palette is subtler, the printing more "boneless;" overall a more painterly effect is achieved in this group of prints by some of the most celebrated Kyoto artists of the day Maria Gab� has created 24.5 x 33.5cm size prints embellished with all the effects of a deluxe production, such as bokashi ��� (gradation), kasane insatsu ���刷 (overprinting), and other techniques. The portfolio covers are worn, but the prints themselves are very good. Very unusual and stunning collection that is almost never found complete. .
