Cruchley, George Frederick - Environs of London: extending thirty miles from the metropolis.

George Cruchley, 1824. First Edition (?). Map. Linen backed hand coloured map, approximately 36" x 36", dissected into 36 rectangles, and housed in a marbled slipcase which matches the contents. Some browning along folds, but not obscuring detail. Recently professionally restored and rebacked onto new linen, so looks very nice - but unfortunately the binder has misspelled 'Cruchley' as 'Crutchley' on the slipcase. Publishers' address is 'From Arrowsmiths', 38 Ludgate Street', and it is clearly dated 1824, but may not be the first printing. Absolutely fascinating early map showing all the little villages that are now suburbs.. Good.
