Handsome first edition of this study -- and an intriguing copy, being that of Illinois governor and two-time Democratic presidential candidate Adlai E. Stevenson II (1900-65), whose grandfather Adlai E. Stevenson I was Grover Cleveland's vice president. On the front flyleaf, Governor Stevenson pencils "Page 170," and on that page (whose corner used to be folded down) he pencils a checkmark -- the book's sole reference to Vice President Stevenson. From the library of Adlai E. Stevenson III (1930-2021), U.S. senator from Illinois (1969-81). .
