Leipzig, s. n. 1850. Broadisde, etching with engraving; sheet 7 3/4 x 10 3/4, plate mark 6 3/4 x 9 3/4; edges trimmed a bit unevenly; minor spotting to verso; in very good or better condition. Created by Albert Henry Payne (1812 - 1902), renowned engraver, printer, and illustrator born in England, but living and working through most of his life in Leipzig, the three side-by-side images depicted the Washington Monument, a portrait of George Washington, and the Washington Tomb. Subtitles below each engraving read, respectively: "Leipzig d. Engl. Kunst Austalt (A.H. Payne sc / Washington's Denkmal. / zu Baltimore," "Declaration / of / Independance / 1783," and "Leipzig d. Engl. Kunst Austalt (A.H. Payne sc / Das Grabmal Washingtons. Very good .
