Franz Oppenheimer (1864-1943) was a German Jewish physician and later a political economist. He is best remembered for his magnum opus "Der Staat" (1908). The subject of his Doctoral thesis is the attack by Johann Karl Rodbertus on the labor theories of Ricardo. Like Henry George and David Ricardo, Oppenheimer believed that wages rise naturally with an increase in the standard of living, In contrast, Rodbertus insisted that wage earners, when left to their own devices, are incapable of earning more than subsistence-level incomes. Very good .
