Un fort vol. au format in-4 (248 x 192 mm) de 4 ff. n.fol. et 592 pp. Reliure de l'époque de plein veau moucheté havane, plats jansénistes, dos à nerfs orné de filets gras à froid, roulette dorée sur les nerfs, caissons d'encadrement dorés, larges fleurons dorés, semis de pointillés dorés, titre doré, palette dorée en queue, roulette dorée sur les coupes, tranches mouchetées. ''Professeur, Jansenius fit des cours d'exégèse très remarqués, et ses commentaires posthumes sur les Évangiles et sur le Pentateuque, admirés par des savants comme Mabillon et plusieurs fois réimprimés''. Angles élimés. Petit manque en marge de chacun des plats. Quelques discrètes rousseurs dans le texte. NNBW VII, p. 665 - 672: Very rare first Dutch translation of one of the most important pamphlets by Jansenius. In fact it constitutes the beginning of the Jansenist movement. The original Latin edition was published in the same year (Louvain, Oliverius, in 4to. 30 pp.). 1630 was also the year in which Jansenius was appointed at Leuven, where he saw to it that Jesuits were removed from teaching positions.: Willaert, L., Bibl. Cornelius Jansenius ( Senior or Hulstensis) was the first bishop of the dioscese of Ghent (1568). He was doctor in theology and participated at the Council of Trente. From 1562 until 1565 he was president of the college of theology at Louvain University. His commentariorum is his main work. It was a pionering work in the history of Roman Catholic exegesis. Légers frottements à la reliure et épidermures au premier plat, petit manque de cuir à un mors, page de garde blanche et page de titre tachées et brunies, mouillure sur les dernières pages de l'index. Malgré les défauts signalés, dont notre prix tient compte, bon erxemplaire. L'auteur, Evèque d'Ypres en Belgique, est à l'origine du Jansénisme et lui a donné son nom.
