In 1921-23 Kansas City, Irene Bergman was a young woman of 15-years old -- still in school, getting a 9th grade liberal arts education. Irene kept a journal of herself over 1921-23 in writings & ephemera- news of school, friends, teachers, sports, her 'toe-dance' aspirations. Irene has confidence, even a bit of attitude. Irene's journal brims with stories of growing up in Kansas City in the early 1920s. Irene journalled-collaged: daily classes/ basketball games, play dates & opponents/ school chums/ class trips/ dance & singing recitals/ newspaper item about Irene's 15th b'day party, guests/ well wishes by school chums, mother, teacher/ Kansas City news items/ small photos of her friends & teachers. Irene had a sly humor-- "January 5th, 1922..the ninth grade class went to the Poultry Show in Kansas City, Missouri at Convention Hall.. there was a stall with a cow in it and tacked to the stall was a sign that read, "The Hairless Dog", but when we looked in there was only a frankfurter.." Irene Bergman graduated the Univ. of Kansas. taught school in KC and retired after 32 years; she died in 1997 [Wiki]. Nice condition, hinges repaired, looks good. Good/No Jacket Issued.
