(VII, I (blank), 116, I (errata), I (Blank) pp.). Very good copy. The extremely rare first printing of Tarski's most important and most influential work. "The Concept of Truth in formalized Languages", the foundation stone of modern logical semantics written by the Polish American mathematician and logician Alfred Tarski [1901 - 1983]. Tarski's publication is a landmark event in 20th c. analytic philosophy, and it ranks as one of the most important contributions to symbolic logic, semantics and philosophy of language. Tarski's contributions to the fields of mathematics and logic ranks him among Frege, Russel and Gödell. It was the logician Alfred Tarski who first studied in detail the possibilities of introducing a formally exact and materially adequate concept of truth into the precise language of science. This epochmaking publication was published in a very small number of copies, many of which have been lost or destroyed. An English translation wasn't made until 1956.
