Founded in 1971 by Wayne Somers, a former college library bibliographer, Hammer Mountain Book Halls began as a catalogue business specializing in out-of-print scholarly books.
We chose the name for euphony and because we occupied the second-highest point in the county, the top of a 1,200 foot hill.
Since 1981, we've also operated "W. Somers, Bookseller," a retail book shop with a constantly changing general stock of books not listed on the Internet.
It's open Monday-Friday, 11-5, and Saturday, 10-5; browsers are welcome.
We've been members of the Antiquarian Booksellers Association of American / International League of Antiquarian Booksellers since 1977.
All prices in U.S. dollars. Payment by PayPal. Customers within New York State will be charged the sales tax applicable in their locality.
Books may be returned within ten days if unsatisfactory.
Shipping Terms:
Prompt worldwide shipping - same-day on weekdays. We never use Jiffy bags; we ship most books in new boxes. All shipments outside the U.S. are sent by air.
United States:
Media mail: $3.75
Priority mail: Most books $10.00
Canada and Mexico:
Books that will fit in a Priority Mail flat rate envelope or small flat rate box: $20.00 or less.
Other countries:
Books that will fit in a Priority Mail flat rate envelope or small flat rate box: $24.00 or less.
If the book you order is not being sent by domestic media mail, and is too large or heavy to fit in a flat rate envelope or small flat rate box, we may have to contact you to let you know that an extra shipping charge will be needed.
