1. Descriptions
1.1 The First Edition always endeavours to ensure that descriptions are as complete and detailed as possible, providing information regarding the dust jacket/wrappers (where applicable); boards/covers; pages; etc highlighting what we regard to be the most important defects that may exist. We support all written descriptions with clear and detailed photographic images covering the many aspects of the books and manuscripts that we sell. These photographic images form part of the descriptions that we offer for books and manuscripts
2. Answering of Queries
2.1 The First Edition are extremely pleased to receive, and actively encourage, requests for further information and images. The First Edition will endeavour to answer all queries on the same day or next working day, with some requests met during weekends at the sole discretion of The First Edition. Since The First Edition issues on average more photographic images per book than any other known book dealer, we strongly urge our Clients to request from The First Edition more images where they have seen our products on web sites where there are restrictions on the number of images that can be posted on the internet. The First Edition will be very pleased to meet any and all reasonable requests
3. Payment:
3.1 We accept payment by PayPal for both domestic & overseas orders; and additionally by UK bank cheque for UK orders only
4. Fees:
4.1 We will show charges for the book(s) and/or manuscripts and the costs of shipping separately. We do not charge for PayPal payments or the processing of cheques, and there are no hidden charges involved in our pricing policies
5. Despatch of Orders:
5.1 We despatch orders on either the same day or next working day. All orders are despatched upon receipt of cleared funds, as authorised by the bank or PayPal
6. Shipping:
6.1. We ship internationally to all destinations supported by Royal Mail and where payment is accepted by PayPal
6.2 We pack to the very highest of standards, using industry approved materials, to ensure that orders arrive safely and quickly, using clearly printed computer-generated address labels
6.3 In the main, The First Edition uses Royal Mail to deliver orders both nationally and internationally. Should the Buyer require a courier service then The First Edition would normally use either Royal Mail DataPost or DHL. However, if the Buyer has an account, and a preference, for another courier such as UPS or FedEx, then we will be pleased to make these arrangements with the Buyer. We will always use a traceable 'trackback' service to deliver orders
7. Insurance:
7.1 The First Edition does not offer private insurance cover, but only that offered by the courier; acting under their insurance thresholds and to their terms and conditions. If you have questions about the insurance levels, claims procedures, etc then we would recommend that you contact the provider prior to ordering. 7.2 The First Edition always despatch orders with a traceable service and with insurance or enhanced insurance where appropriate
Returns Policy:
Due to the detailed descriptions and photographic images that The First Edition provides we are proud to possess an extremely high level of customer service and satisfaction on the books and manuscripts that we sell. This is borne out by the many customer feedback ratings that we hold with independent organisations such as eBay. However, since it is a requirement to stipulate a Returns Policy we are pleased to provide you with this Returns Policy which we believe will protect and benefit you the Buyer and ensure that in the very unlikely event that it is necessary to use a returns procedure, that this procedure is clear and unambiguous
1.1 It is the responsibility of The First Edition to provide an accurate representation of the overall condition of the books and manuscripts that it sells; and to make known all major defects through its description and photographic images
1.2 It is the responsiblity of the Buyer to seek clarification on any points that they are not clear about prior to ordering and paying. Since The First Edition issues on average more photographic images per book than any other known book dealer, we strongly urge our Clients to request from The First Edition more images, especially where they have seen our products on web sites where there are restrictions on the number of images that can be posted on the internet
1.3 In the unlikely event that The First Edition fails to highlight material defects that significantly devalues the book's grade and/or monetary value then a claim for a full or partial refund may be made by the Buyer to The First Edition
1.4 In the first instance, the Buyer must contact in writing, by email or letter, The First Edition upon immediate receipt of their order after inspecting their purchases detailing the faults and how this differs with the description and photographic images (be they posted on the internet site or additional images sent by email)
1.5 The Buyer must state the condition of the packaging at the time of receipt of the order
1.6 Upon agreement, the Buyer will receive either a partial refund and keep the order; or a full refund will be issued upon receipt of the book(s) or manuscript(s) by The First Edition
1.7 It is the responsibility of the Buyer to ensure that the same packaging used to deliver the order is used to return the order back to The First Edition; or, alternatively, suitable and comparable packaging adn address labels are used to that in which the order was delivered
1.8 It is the responsibility of the Buyer to acquire adequate insurance for loss and/or damage
1.9 Upon written authorization from The First Edition for the return of the order, those within the UK must ensure that the order is returned and received by The First Edition within 3 working days; and outside of the UK within 10 working days
1.10 Upon receipt of the returned order The First Edition will confirm the faults and issue a full refund of all monies paid to The First Edition
1.11 Failure to provide accurate information; adequately pack and address the returned parcel; use and secure appropriate insurance from an established and recognised courier; and promptly despatch the return may, at the sole discretion of The First Edition, invalidate the return and the Buyer will be liable for all costs
