Blue coloured cloth covered boards with black titles to the front panel and backstrip. Bumping and rubbing to the backstrip and to the book corners. Some staining to the book panels and backstrip. Browning and foxing to the text block edges. Light (for age) browning of the endpapers and internal text. Illustrated dustwrapper, by Bip Pares, with red titles to the front panel and backstrip. Rubbing and chipping to the dustwrapper corners and lower backstrip edge. The top half inch of the backstrip is missing. Creasing to the dustwrapper edges and there is a 0.25 " tear to the top edge of the rear dustwrapper panel. Rubbing, handling marks and fading to the dustwrapper. Clipping of the dustwrapper, front fold over panel, lower right-hand corner. A novel that follows the lives of six children from Cornwell, four boys and two girls. Two of the boys become merchant sailors, the other two boys become public servants and the girls marry the public servants in an expectation of a never ending unchanging cycle.
