Gold spine lettering is very rubbed, mostly illegible. Otherwise very minor wear on the sound binding. Tape used on the title page has stained the verso. Occasional light foxing on the contents along with occasional, very unobtrussive small pencil marks. Contents are unworn. No DJ. ; 9" Tall, map endpapers, different front and back.1955. VII + 214pp. Dark gray cloth, bright gold front cover lettering with gold seal of the US Navy Department. WAR REFERENCE. The front endpaper map covers the Pacifc and Indian oceans. The back endpaper map covers the Atlantic Ocean and the North and Mediterrean seas. "The Naval History Division has not attempted to prepare a chronology of all the far-flung operations of World War II. However, operations of the U. S. Army and of other navies are included as necessary to make the work complete for US naval reference purposes. It will be noted that the purpose was to produce a brief, factual chronological record of significant events. Comments are confined to less than ten brief notes which emphasize the importance of the critical and decisive naval actions of the war.
