Second Edition. Shanghai: Kelly & Walsh, 1926-1937, 294; xxix, (2), 327 pages, with black & white photo illustrations on separate pages. In the original black-stamped light brown cloth with matching pictorial dust jackets. The dust jackets, which are preserved in archival grade Brodart, show some wear at the spine tips, corners and edges. There is a 3-1/2" x 1" piece missing from the top back of one of the jackets. The jackets show some light soil. THE DUST JACKETS ARE VERY RARE! The Chinese language volume has a former owner's signature dated Shanghai, 16 October 1945 on the front blank endpaper. The English language volume has a quaint Chinese themed bookplate on the front blank pastedown. Overall, clean, tight and very good. The Chinese language title is: YING HUA PENG REN XUE QUAN SHU and is a translation from the English by Nieyun Zhang and was published in 1926. This second English language edition was published in 1937. The sub-title of the volumes as printed on the dust jackets are: THE "GOOD CHOW" PROBLEM SOLVED. NOTE: The English language edition has 4 recipes, laid down on the rear blank endpapers, sourced from contemporary newspapers including the "Sunday Mercury" which was published in Shanghai. "English Version for the Mistress, Chinese Version for the Cook".
