Illustrated with 16 full-page b&w illustrations by Aubrey Beardsley. Includes the suppressed title page. Date in roman numerals on title page: 1920. Includes two casting lists, one for the operatic version by Richard Strauss, and one for the performance in England for the first time. There is light fading to the spine panel, the front cover is lovely and bright. Small stain to theedge of the spine panel, a spot or two on the back panel, light overall wear the insides are nice with a few spots of foxing. Former owner's signature on the title page and there is a small inscription on the front pastedown. The overall condition of this scarce edition is vg+.
