There is good evidence for every detail of their lives, their homes and their adventures. Some of the evidence consists of real things, such as the actual ships of the Vikings which have been found and can be seen in museums. Some of it comes from books that were written at the time or soon afterwards. Not much is said in this book about the Vikings in England. There is a special reason for this. Our famous King Alfred the Great spent most of his life saving England from the attacks of the Vikings, and there is a book about King Alfred in this 'Then and There' series. Whenever you visit a museum, ask if they have any remains from the Viking Age. Some of them you will recognize from the drawings in this book. Illustrated.
