W. CARTER PLATTS - Modern Trout Fishing. With Sixteen Plates and Fifteen Line Illustrations.London England, Adam & Charles Black, 1947. Second Edition, Binding: Cloth, Very Good. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall Hardback Ths volume is the result of an honest effort to describe, with such impartiality as I am capable of, the many and various legal methods of catching trout with rod and line in common usage to-day in the British Isle. Probably over no branch of angling has controversy ranged more furiously than over trout fishng, but propoganda has no intentional part in these pages, which I trust, will be found free from hysterical partisanship. If, however, any apology is called for, then, "with bated breath and whispering humbleness", I crave forgiveness of the fly fisher for having devoted so much space to bait fishing, while, wiith equal humility, I entreat the pardon of the bait fisher for alloting so many pages to fly fishing. Except incidentally, I have not dealt with fly-fishers' entomology and what references I have made to that fascinating study are of necessty very brief. Illustrated. Slight foxing to end pages.
