R. H. WILENSKI - English Painting

London England, Faber & Faber, 1947. Reprint, Binding: Cloth, Good/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" Tall Octavo Hardback Hardback. English Painting. Ex-Royals Society of Arts Library with ex-RSA markings. Bumped corners to cloth. Couple of slight marks to cloth. Slightly sunned spine to cloth. Blue cloth with gilt lettering. The present book is concerned with English Painting from Gothic times to a point somewhere after the pre-Raphaelite Movement of the eighteen-fifties and before the Cubist-Classical Renaissance discussed in the other book. It makes no pretence to be a complete history of English painting in that long period. It is more in the nature of a series of comments on English painters who seem to me of interest or consequence from the special point of view defines in the 'General Introduction' which follows this 'Preface'. The drawins and paintings in surviving mediaeval and Gothin manuscripts are outside the subject of this book. Illustrated. 303 pp.
