Important and scarce edition of this famous knightly novel written by Andrea da Barberino (1370-1432) from Val d'Elsa near to Florence and translator of the french Chansons de Gestes that sang in squares as a minstrel. The novel appeared for the first time in Modena in 1491 and was edited many times. It is interesting because it combines real happenings and inventions. It is not dated but of the half of XVII secolo, we can understand it from the style and because the editor Marescandoli was active in Lucca from 1653 until 1805 succeeding to Bidelli. Inside there are 6 beautiful woodcuts in the text. Beautiful woodcut in the title page. Ancient manuscripted notes in the text. Ex libris in the first endpaper. In good general conditions. Half leather cover of the XVIII century in good general conditions slightly worn in the edges and spine. Binding in very good conditions apart for the title page that is partially detached. Inside pages are in good conditions with foxings and some yellowings. Ink's stain in the title page and in the first two pages with loss of text in the title page. Missing part in the inner edge of page 3 with loss of some letters. Slight woodworm signs in the text that is readable anyway (pagg. from 5 to 14 with loss of some letters, in the right edge from pag. 43 to 68 and from 227 to 271 wth no loss of text, in the upper edge from page 537 to 342 with loss of some letters). Importante e rara edizione di questo famoso romanzo cavalleresco scritto da Andrea da Barberino (1370-1432) originario della Val d'Elsa vicino a Firenze e traduttore delle Chansons de Gestes francesi che recitava in piazza come menestrello. Il romanzo apparve per la prima volta a Modena nel 1491 e conobbe moltissime edizioni, interessante in quanto nella narrazione mescola realt? e fantasia. Senza data ma intorno alla met? del 1600, ci? si evince dalla carta e dallo stile e dal fatto che la stamperia Marescandoli fu attiva dal 1653 al 1805 a Lucca succedendo a Bidelli. All'interno sono presenti 6 belle xilografie nel testo. Bella xilografie al frontespizio. Antiche note manoscritte nel testo. Alla prima pagina di sguardia ex libris. In buone condizioni generali. Copertina in mezza pelle settecentesca in buone condizioni generali con lievi usure ai margini e dorso. Legatura in ottime condizioni a parte il frontespizio parzialmente staccato. All'interno le pagine si presentano in buone condizioni con fioriture e qualche brunitura. Segno di inchiostro al frontespizio e prime due pagine con perdita di testo al frontespizio (vedere foto). Parte mancante al margine di piegatura di pag. 3 con perdita di qualche lettera. Lievi segnetti di tarlo nel testo che tuttavia risulta leggibile (pagg. da 5 a 14 con perdita qualche lettera, al margine destro da pag. 43 a 68 e da 227 a 271 senza perdita di testo, al margine superiore delle pagine da 537 a 342 con perdita di qualche lettera). Piccola gora d'umidit? al margine inferiore di quasi tutto il volume senza inficiare il testo.
