JOAN FLEMING - How to Live Dangerously

London England, The Thriller Book Club, 1975. 1st Thriller Book Club Edition, Binding: Cloth, Very Good/Very Good. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall Hardback A splendid war record in Naval intelligence and a disastrous marriage left Martin Pendle Hill alone, leading a reasonably contented and uneventful life in a pleasant Oxford upper maisonette. He had a good friend with whom he spent long holidays and a black Labrador as a companion. But both these died of a ripe old age within a short time of one another and in his distress Pendle Hill accidently fell and broke his thigh. That was what started it. 'After sixy-five years of age..live dangerously', the Oxford Regious Professor of Medicine had publicly adviced, and Pendle Hill, smiling at his own plan and without permission from his stern little landlady in the beautiful flat downstairs, decided to do just that; he would fill his life with bright young people by taking in lodgers, accommodating them on his top floor. Meanwhile, his landlady had embarked upon a plan for her old age, which had within it the seeds of disaster.
