Ruscelli was born in Viterbo in 1504 and died in Venice in 1566. He spent the first part of his life in Rome and in 1548 moved in Venice. The work is in one volume and it is complete. It begins with a treaty on the way to write in rhymes in italian language, with chapters dedicated to the art of writing in rhymes and analyzing the structure of rhymes characterizing the italian lyrics. Many rhymes taken from Dante, from Ariosto, from Tasso etc... At the end of the work a vocabulary with the explanation of the words in the work. Beautiful decorated initial letters. Ancient manuscripted notes inside. Parchment coeval binding. Parchment coeval cover in good general conditions slightly worn in the edges and spine. Binding in good conditions but with a crack in the first endpaper. The body of the book is partially detached from cover. Inside pages are in good conditions with occasional foxings. E' innaugurata da un trattato sul modo di comporre in versi nella lingua italiana, con capitoli dedicati all'arte dello scrivere in versi e ad analizzare la struttura delle rime che caratterizza i differenti metri della lirica italiana.
