The People of Ceylon
Colombo, M.D. Gunasera & Co. Ltd. 1965. Hardcover. Book, Second Edition (1949). xxii, 311pp, map, 24 photo illustrations, bibliography, 19 page index. 8vo/22cm. Green cloth gilt, slightly rubbed at extremities, in chipped dj, internally clean, tight and very good. Foreword by Julius de Lanerolle pointing out that much of Dr. Wijesekera's text is from notes taken during the first Ethnological Survey of Ceylon the results of which were apparently never published. De Lanerolle had recommended to the Ministry of Education in 1934 that such a survey be conducted to back up the artifacts held by the Colombo Museum. He says, "As a reliable source-book his work is indispensable to all research workers in this field and will remain so for many years to come.". Very Good.
