¶ This is the original publication: it is not a reproduction or a facsimile. The original printed front cover is present although it has now been laid onto stiff paper to preserve it in its delicate state. A large portion is missing from the right side, only affecting the "N" in the author's last name. The plain rear cover is absent and has been replaced with the stiff paper. The contents show marginal creasing but are otherwise in very good condition. The HSSM also published Atkinson's early monograph entitled "The Game Birds of Manitoba" (1898).

¶ The boards of each volume are quite spotted and edge-rubbed. The cloth is faded although the gilt spine lettering and rules remain bright. Contents exceptionally clean throughout. Binding of volume II slightly cracked at centre, but contents tight. Despite superficial cosmetic blemishes, this is a nice set in quite good condition.

¶ From the special tipped-in page: "This book is one of five hundred Limited Editions which have been specially produced to commemorate the inauguration of 'To Ride the Wind'. Every copy is personally autographed and numbered by the author. Extraordinary care has been devoted to the selection of material, style and color tones of what will become a collector's item. The Limited Edition is covered in the highest quality genuine steer hide which is dyed exclusively for this publication. Each edition is custom hand bound, richly gold stamped, and painstakingly blind stamped. The assemblage of the Limited Edition enhances the accuracy of the original color-plate impressions, the fidelity in reproduction of the pen and ink illustrations and a distinctive achievement in the art of fine printing." This copy is boldly signed by the artist/author, and is numbered 122. The leather binding is a bit scuffed, with a blemish on the lower part of the front board, which may be natural to the hide itself. The binding is tight and stong. The contents are unmarked by the previous owner. In all, a very good copy of a most handsome book by the famous American zoologist and author, who died in 1988. No slipcase.

¶ The purpose of this report was to evaluate the economic feasibility of the commercial raising and processing of domestic rabbits in rural Manitoba for human consumption. The authors conclude that such an enterprise "..is not only feasible, but would also be quite profitable.." The report contains much technical information and plans on how to operate a commercial rabbit raising operation, and plant to process the animals.
