TO RIDE THE WIND
Toronto, Richard Bonnycastle ND (1976), . Ill.: colour, b&w illustrations. Folio pp. 120. With a foreward by famed artist and ornithologist, Sir Peter Scott.
¶ From the special tipped-in page: "This book is one of five hundred Limited Editions which have been specially produced to commemorate the inauguration of 'To Ride the Wind'. Every copy is personally autographed and numbered by the author. Extraordinary care has been devoted to the selection of material, style and color tones of what will become a collector's item. The Limited Edition is covered in the highest quality genuine steer hide which is dyed exclusively for this publication. Each edition is custom hand bound, richly gold stamped, and painstakingly blind stamped. The assemblage of the Limited Edition enhances the accuracy of the original color-plate impressions, the fidelity in reproduction of the pen and ink illustrations and a distinctive achievement in the art of fine printing." This copy is boldly signed by the artist/author, and is numbered 122. The leather binding is a bit scuffed, with a blemish on the lower part of the front board, which may be natural to the hide itself. The binding is tight and stong. The contents are unmarked by the previous owner. In all, a very good copy of a most handsome book by the famous American zoologist and author, who died in 1988. No slipcase.
