First edition of the scientific results of the Swedish Svalbard expedition of 1882-83 headed by Nils Ekholm. It contains information about meterology, geomagnetism, and autoral studies together with an historical report of the activities and events during the expedition. For the International Polar Year of 1882‚ńď3 the Swedish Royal Academy of Sciences, with government and private backing, sponsored an expedition to establish a scientific station in Mosselbukta on the North Coast of Spitzbergen. Due to heavy ice that season an alternative site at Cap Thordsen on the north shore of Isfjorden was used. The present set of reports was the only publication to appear following the return of the expedition. The expedition team included Salomon August Andr√©e, later to lead his own ill-fated expedition to the North Pole. Arctic Bibliography 494, 2873‚ńď4, 4439‚ńď41, 6414 & 16443.
