Arnold was a notable educator and historian, from the early nineteenth century. He was a strong supporter of the Broad Church Anglican movement, and introduced educational reforms, relating to masculinity and achievement, which influenced the practice of public schools across the country. Rebound in half morocco. Externally, very smart with some rubbing to the extremities. Fading to the spine. Very light marks to the boards. Internally, binding slightly strained towards the centre, but otherwise very firmly bound. Pages lightly age-toned but very bright and clean. The odd spot throughout.
