(TRANSLATED BY??) PARCH. WILLIAM REES, LIVERPOOL - (??) / [??HARRIET BEECHER STOWE??]
AELWYD F'EWYTHR ROBERT: NEU, HANES CABAN F'EWYTHR TOMOS. (THE HEARTH OF UNCLE ROBERT, OR THE STORY OF UNCLE TOM'S CABIN)
Dinbych, Cyhoeddwyd Gan Thomas Gee, 1853. 1853, 1st Edition. Hardcover . Hardback, 12mo, 4 1/2 x 7 inches (appx 11 x 17.4 cm), gilt titles on brown cloth, x + 500 pages, Illustrated, ex-library. Library rebound. Nice-looking externally. White library code on spine doesn't detract a lot. Brown library endpapers. First original leaf is the title page. Last original leaf is p. 500. No blanks, no half-title. Seventeen (17) illustrations at first count. Two prefaces dated 1853: one by James Harris, Bryn Derwen & one by " DYN LERPWR." Blind stamp, ink stamp and penciled-in titles on Title Page. A few smudges to text, but otherwise generally fresh and clean. Library pocket to front pastedown, Date Due stamp to FFEP. At this time, I feel this could be a Welsh Language First Edition of Uncle Tom's Cabin, and have approximated its value accordingly. I don't know if William Rees has translated the work and has Uncle Robert telling the tale at his fireside, or what. Please communicate to me any knowledge you might have of this volume. Fair.
