In-4 demi-chagrin marron à coins, couvertures conservées (coins usagés, fente sur le bas du dos), tête dorée, 610 pp. Récit de voyage abondamment illustré de dessins hors-texte et in texte consacré à l'Indo-Chine L'Empire Chinois & Le Japon. Bien complet des 3 cartes dépliantes. Le premier chapitre est consacré à la traversé de Marseille à Singapore. L'auteur, Paul Bonnetain (1858-1899) se fit d'abord connaître comme journaliste spécialisé dans le reportage "exotique" avant d'embrasser en 1894 une carrière d'administrateur colonial. Commissaire du gouvernement au Laos à partir de 1896, il mourut dans des circonstances non élucidées.
