Bruce Weber
Alfred Knopf. 1989. (ISBN: 0394572467). Hardcover, with dust jacket. 255 x 315 mm. Unpaginated Glassine outer jacket a little edge wornand marked. A collection of 140 photos of Bruce Weber's work. Includes many male physique portraits plus many athletes and models as well as artists and public figures like Chet Baker, Chris Isaak, Robert Mitchum, Sam Shepard, Little Richard, Patrick Swayze and others. Following Bruce Weber's seminal first two books (untitled 1st book) and O Rio, this 3rd monograph perhaps lacked the more coherent thematic structure of it's predecessors. However by the mid 80's Bruce Weber had become so prolific and successful that a few books followed that captured some of his diversity, sublime eye and effortless style. The sheer beauty and quality of Bruce Weber's work speaks for itself. The beautiful heavy matte paper, excellent printing and incredible photography makes this book essential for those interested in fashion and photography. Very Good/Very Good.

The Knee of Listening. The Early Life and Radical Spiritual Teachings of Bubba Free John
The Dawn Horse Press. 1978. (ISBN: 0913922439). Soft cover. The Knee of Listening. Revised edition 215 x 125 mm. 271 pages. First published in 1972, "The Knee of Listening" is the spiritual autobiography of the Ruchira Avatar, Adi Da Samraj. Containing simple narrative, ecstatic poetry, complex argument, and discourse, Adi Da's autobiography reveals the miraculous story of his unique incarnation and revelation in the west for "the sake of liberating all beings The Knee Of Listening was never intended to be an autobiography in the conventional sense of the word. Based on Adi Da's purposes for the book, The Knee Of Listening had a very specific structure: Purpose 1: Because most people are only aware of the material dimensions of Reality, the book should take readers on a tour (at the universal level) of all the greater-than-material dimensions of Reality, and also take readers on a tour (at the personal level) of the human esoteric anatomy (the body, the mind, kundalini and spiritual ascent, consciousness, etc.). The book should make readers aware that these dimensions of Reality and components of esoteric human anatomy actually "factually" exist. Purpose 2: However, the book should also conclude, over and over again, that none of those dimensions, realizations, or aspects of esoteric human anatomy were "It", the Ultimate Realization. Only Reality Itself was the Ultimate Realization, or Most Perfect Enlightenment or Freedom. Very Good.

Margot Philips - Her Own World
Hamilton, Waikato Museum of Art and History. 1987, 1st Edition. Soft cover. 63 pages Color and b&w illustrations ISBN: 090875015 Margot Leonie Louisa Philips was born on 5 April 1902 in Duisburg-Ruhrort, Germany. She was the youngest of five children born to Selma and Julius Philips. Margot's father was a grain merchant who could provide a comfortable living for his family and who had a strong sense of their Jewish background but a liberal outlook. World War I brought about the collapse of the business and when Margot's father died their comfortable lifestyle came to an end. Margot subsequently trained as a shorthand typist and found employment from 1929 to 1934 with a chain of department stores but eventually lost her job because she was Jewish. In 1935 Margot left Germany and found temporary refuge and work in England. From there she helped organize her brother Kurt's emigration, along with his wife, to New Zealand, where they settled in Hamilton and from where they sponsored Margot's emigration. After her arrival in her new home country, Margot worked as a waitress in her brother's coffeehouse in Hamilton. Fine.
