Large oblong portfolio with 22 leaves (3 double) containing 45 pages printed with collotype ('Lichtdruck') reproductions of the highly detailed naturalistic drawings by Allers. Some drawings in colors. First edition. Spine worn at the outside and the inside, but the rest of the binding is in good condition. Some foxing, especially at the beginning. Humorous pictorial account of a Honeymoon Trip to Italy of a German couple, with very fine views of Milan and Venice. One of the nicest and largest of Allers's popular book productions. Allers was implicated at the Krupp scandal at Capri (1902). He had to flee from Italy and the last twelve years of his life were spent restlessly travelling the world.

Large original decorated cloth portfolio with introduction (large folding leaf) and 39 phototype plates mounted on stiff boards (incl. 3 double plates and 1 multiple). With a song text mounted on another board as Nr. 32 a, a 4 p. text book and an invitation card mounted on the title page. Portfolio a little worn at the spine, but in very good condition. A few of the boards have a marginal tear. Christian Allers (1857-1915) was famous for his detailed and humorously realistic drawings, published in large portfolios starting in 1885. On his fine drawings, young and old, poor and rich are depicted with benevolent amusement.

Bovendien heeft de auteur op dezelfde pagina zijn handtekening gezet. De schilder Teun van der Veen (1902-1991) was heel zijn leven in Zwolle werkzaam.

Amsterdam, J.H. Gebhard and Co., 1852. 16 x 10 cm. Halfleer met gemarmerde platten. VIII, 112 p. 1e druk. Schutbladen ontbreken. Wat versleten en met kinderlijke krabbels en de naam 'Anna'. Iemand heeft veel titels voorzien van aanduidingen voor de klemtoon. Wat vlekkig. Met het mooie exlibris van Bob Luza. Voor Nederlandse lezers een verwarrende titel: dit is geen Engelse vertaling van Hieronymus van Alphen, maar een omvangrijke bloemlezing uit Original Poems for Infant Minds (1804), geschreven door 'Several Young Persons', onder wie de zusters Ann en Jane Taylor. Het zijn lieve, humoristische gedichten, wel moralistisch maar niet al te braaf. Gebhard produceerde allerlei Engelse leerboekjes voor kinderen. Een pruimenboom zult u in dit boekje dus niet aantreffen - wel verschillende pruimentaartjes.
