Publisher’s original pale green highly-decorated cloth, spine and front cover are lettered in gilt, the front cover has gilt vignettes of a trout fisherman, a mounted deer head, and fish swimming, there is also an evergreen coniferous tree blind-stamped in black opposite the fisherman vignette, lg 4to. This is the First Annual Report of the Commissioners of Fisheries, Game and Forests of the State of New York. The work contains 16 chapters including food for fishes by A.N. Cheney, commercial fisheries, muskellunge, pike pickerel and pike-perch by Cheney, shad on the Hudson river by Cheney, the rainbow trout by Tarleton Bean, the brown trout by R.B. Marston, by E.T.D. Chambers, Ouananiche salmon by Chambers, the Chinese pheasant by S.H. Greene, summer woodcock shooting by G. Hills, etc. Light edge wear to cloth, old wrinkle to text page 120, the cloth binding, text and plates are all very bright and clean; a tight copy in near fine condition..
