Sweet Caporal Cigarettes, Producer. No place or dates, presumed early to mid 1890s. Celluloid style faces, with solid metal backs imprinted with Caporal Cigarettes advertising copy. Stickpin style backs, although the Tennye Poole pin is missing the stickpin. Three with metal rims around the face, two without. All measure approximately 7/8 inches in diameter and feature a portrait photo of the performer. All the performers were either singers or actors or both, being at the top of American pop culture in the 1890s. Pinbacks in GOOD condition, with uneven moderate toning and fading. Some with minor soiling and/or foxing to the faces. The imprints on the reverse of all are very worn and barely legible. (will sell individually too). Good .

An advertising pinback for Mast, Foos and Company, a manufacturer of pumps, mowers, tools, windmills and other machinery. The company was founded in 1875, and was acquired by another company in 1940. Established by Phineas Mast (perhaps best known for the "castle" he had built, and John Foos, an inventor who specialized in gas powered engines. GOOD condition. Moderate toning and soiling to the face, with some scuffing and a tiny scratch. Reverse rusted. Good .

A program of events being held in December of 1986, at the legendary gay and lesbian nightclub, The Saint. The club opened in 1980 in the old Fillmore East building. Founded by Bruce Mailman, the club operated for most of existence as a members' only venue, and earned a reputation for the parties held there. The club closed in 1988. This program features Gloria Gaynor playing at Disco Divas II, as well as a performance by the Weather Girls. VERY GOOD condition. Minor soiling, rubbing and edgewear. Very Good .

Held at the Salem Baptist Church in Los Angeles on Sunday July 12th, the discussion covered topics including: "the Muslim Movement, the power structure and the Civil Rights Movement;" "Messenger Elijah Muhammad;" "Separation vs. Integration;" and "Proposals of the Nation of Islam." Single sheet, light blue paper stock. 17 by 22 inches. Illustration by Lars Svendsgaard. A poster advertising a festival at Ho Chi Minh (Willard) Park in Berkeley, featuring workshops, music, food and theatre. Urging people to "bring your collectives' vision to Hot Town," it appears this "Interdependence" festival hoped to gather a people from a variety of communes and activist circles from the Berkeley area. Ho Chi Minh Park (Willard Park) was used by activists in the area to organize and protest the Vietnam War. GOOD condition. Really, what could one expect from a poster appealing to a cross section of activists and hippies? General wrinkling and faint creasing to the poster, both large and small. Uneven fading, toning and minor soiling. Lower right corner torn off from the poster, with staple holes and tearing at the other corners. Street corner fresh!. Good .

The event was held in memory of activist George Jackson who had been killed while attempting to escape from prison in August of 1971. Bobby Seale of the Black Panther Party, Jackson's lawyer John Thorne, Louis Kammack and Sean Keane were all scheduled to speak. Topics included political repression, police brutality, underemployment, substandard housing, inadequate care for the poor, etc. The rally was sponsored by the Malcolm X United Liberation Front, SCLC, Miami Conventions Coalition and Vietnam Veterans Against the War. GOOD condition. Horizontal and vertical fold creases present. General toning, some faint staining and soiling present. General wrinkling to the piece. "Rides Need" in large magenta felt tip marker on the back. Good .
