Printed by George Eyre and Andrew Strahan,, 1819. Sm. 8vo., First and Sole Edition thus, some very light and occasional marginal age-stains; contemporary marbled boards, neatly rebacked in calf to style, leather label ruled and lettered in gilt, a very good, clean copy of a very scarce work. This copy was formerly in the possession of Charles Arrowsmith and bears his signed holograph inscription on front paste-down 'qualified as a Governor & Director of the Poor of the Parish of Saint Pancras. Dec. 4 1832.'The statute referred to is 59 Geo. III. Cap. xxxix. It is of unusual length (176pp inc. index) and complexity for an Act of this nature and includes a detailed and comprehensive index. Extremely scarce, especially in this condition.

[Privately Printed], Sherren & Son, Weymouth,, [1945]. 8vo., First Edition, with plates, neat contemporary inscription on front paste-down; original blue cloth, upper board and backstrip lettered in gilt, covers unevenly faded (but all gilt wholly legible), a very good, bright, clean copy in unclipped, moderately age-soiled dustwrapper, the latter wanting most of backstrip. With relevant cutting mounted on front free endpaper verso. Probably the most detailed account of any St. John detachment in action, this scarce work is an outstanding contribution to the literature of Dorset in WWII. The author provides extensive and detailed accounts of personnel, organisation, structure, training, actions, rescues and so, together with an unusually high complement of scarce photographs, the majority published here for the first time.
