Christliche Kirchen Agenda: Wie die von den zweyen Ständen der Herrn und Ritterschafft, im Ertzhertzogthumb Oesterreich unter der Enns, gebraucht wirdt.
[Rosenburg], [Protestantische Druckerei], 1571. Folio. (4) 214 (3) lvs. Contemporary limp vellum. VD 16 ZV 196; Jackson 547. Very rare first impression of the first edition (title formulation 'von den zweyen' instead of 'bey den zweyen'). The publication of this liturgy was a landmark event in the history of the Reformation in Austria. In 1568 David Chytraeus was invited to help the Lutherans in Austria drawing up their first liturgy and church order, but after his departure Christoph Reuter undertook, unbeknownst to him, a full revision. The total print run was around 4,000 copies, of which about 3,000 copies were destroyed in the vaults of the Vienna parliament building during the Counter-Reformation in the early seventeenth century. Currently only about a dozen of copies are still known to exist. - Quire B misbound before quire A, manuscript text and partly removed armorial bookplate on upper pastedown, two bookseller's stamps on lower pastedown, title page browned, upper corner of title page slightly damaged (not affecting the text), some spotting throughout, and ties lacking.
