Gaius Sallustius Crispus, usually Anglicised as Sallust (86 – c. 35 BC), was a Roman historian and politician from a plebeian family, according to his Wikipedia entry. "Probably born at Amiternum in the country of the Sabines, Sallust became a partisan of Julius Caesar (100 to 44 BC), circa 50s BC. Fine rag paper, only slightly toned, waffled, and with only faint sunning along edges, else quite fine. Measures 7 3/4" x 10". A Wikipedia entry about it says that The Academie des Inscriptions et Belles-Lettres was a French learned society founded in 1663 as one of the five academies of the Institut de France, composed initially of "five humanists: Jean Chapelain, François Charpentier, Jacques Cassagne, Amable de Bourzeys, and Charles Perrault."
