The Daguerreotype: A Magazine of Foreign Literature and Science. Volume I, Issues 2 - 12
Boston, J. M. Whittemore, (1847). First Edition. Hardcover. Bound in publisher's brown blindstamped cloth with gilt lettering and decorations on the spine. For some reason, the first issue is not included, which seems to be rather common with this publication. Despite the title, this has nothing to do with photography but is rather a compendium of articles from periodicals from England, France, and Germany, and translated into English for an American audience when necessary. Subjects include Cuba, China, Russia, Central America, the relations between Mexico and the United States, and the Art of Eating. Owner name of Eastman Sanborn dated Andover, Mass. 1850 on the front endpaper. Minor foxing; chipping to spine tips and some loss along spine edges, covers tight. Good .
