¶ A biography, by his son the 2nd Earl, of Frederick Edwin Smith, 1st Earl of Birkenhead [ 1872- 1930 ], for whom the peerage was created. He was a noted Conservative politician, one of the most highly paid barristers in the pre First World War period & was Solicitor General & then the Attorney General. He is however, perhaps better remembered as being Winston Churchill's closest friend until Smith's untimely death in 1930. Woods B21.
