STEED, WICKHAM
The Press
Penguin, 1938-01-01. First Edition. Paperback. Wickham Steed, himself a famous journalist and a former editor of THE TIMES, has here written one of the most important surveys of the modern Press that has appeared for some time. "The problem of the Press," he urges, "is the central problem of democracy."Ā  Freedom of speech depends ultimately on the freedom of the Press - and today that freedom is being threatened more and more. A good 1938 paperback in a fair unclipped dustwrapper. The book is in clean light card covers slightly bumped to the wrinkled spine, internally a previous owners name inked on the front endpaper, tanned pages quite tanned to the text-block edges. The aged slightly soiled dustwrapper is tanned to the spine, creased to the edges with several small closed tears/chips to the spine ends/tips, the flap folds are very rubbed with separations - supplied in a new removable archival sleeve. Carefully packaged and despatched within 48 hours from our wee bookshop in Scotland.. Good .
