Lyrics and Sonnets. Complete Edition Arranged in Seven Groups and with an Introduction By John W. Garvin Toronto, Thomas Nelson, 1931, First edition. Hardcover , Octavo. Original brown marble-patterened cloth, paper spine label. pp (xx, 304 + frontis. portrait with facsimile signature and one other plate (a nice pen-and-ink sketch of her birthplace, the Rockwood Academy, Rockwood, Ontario). Spine label a bit chipped at two edges (no loss of text); yellowing to page edges; else a VG clean, tight and unworn jacketless copy. Inscribed by the author "To Laura G. Salverson with kind regards Ethelwyn Wetherald". Laura Goodman Salverson was a somewhat important Icelandic-Canadian author (born in Winnipeg) who twice won a Governor-General's Award. Ethelwyn Wetherald was a major minor Canadian poet. I noticed one of her poems being used recently as part of the ongoing series of Canadian poetry on the Toronto subways. Uncommon collection of poetry, her last in her lifetime, with a good Canadian literary association. Inscribed by Author.
