Quarto (9" x 11-3/8") bound in period calf leather, rebacked; [19], 417 pages. Illustrated with a folding frontispiece map and 42 engraved views, maps, and plans of which 41 are folding. First published in 1748, the account of this famous and unfortunate expedition around the world by Anson contains descriptions of the island of Madeira, Brazil, Port St. Julian, Cape Horn, the coast of Mexico, Macao, etc. including several engraved views and plans in the Americas. University library bookplate, stamped "withdrawn," on the front pastedown. Some toning to plates, a little offsetting and scattered spotting, staining to the margin of one map.
