The Hour of the Dragon [Along with] the People of the Black Circle [Along with] Red Nails. The 'Authorized' Editions, Edited by Karl Edward Wagner.
New York, Berkley / Putnam. 1977. First Printing of this Edition. Hardcover. Three Volumes. The 'Authorized' Edition, originally proposed as Seven Volumes, of which only these three were published. Octavo, original cloth, spines titled in gilt. 296 + 293 + 295 pp. Although unstated, THE HOUR OF THE DRAGON is the first hardcover edition. Each volume has interior artwork, the original artwork from the original publication of the stories in WEIRD TALES magazine. Dust jackets with wrap around full colour artwork by Ken Kelly. These are the trade editions, cloth bound with priced dust jackets, which are very scarce and not to be confused with the SF Book Club editions which are smaller and in a cheaper format. The spine panel of Volume One is cocked and the price corner on the jacket is clipped, there is some slight page edge staining. There is also some obscure mathematics in pen on the verso for some reason, making this just a good, sound copy; Volumes Two has a small crease to the lower front corner of the jacket, Volume Three has some light foxing to the page edges, but these two are really quite nice in unclipped dust jackets. Very Good in Dust Jackets
¶ Texts include: THE HOUR OF THE DRAGON (novel, a.k.a. CONAN THE CONQUEROR); THE DEVIL IN IRON, THE PEOPLE OF THE BLACK CIRCLE, A WITCH SHALL BE BORN, JEWELS OF GWALHUR, BEYOND THE BLACK RIVER, SHADOWS IN ZAMBOULA, RED NAILS, & THE HYBORIAN AGE.
