¶ Wladimir Iwanowitsch Dal (auch Dahl; 1801- 1872), Freund von A. S. Puschkin [Puskin], war einer der grössten russischen Lexikographen u. Autor des umfangreichsten Wörterbuchs der russischen Sprache. 1838 wurde er Mitglied der Russischen Akademie der Wissenschaften. Das 1863-1866 erstmals erschienene erläuternde Wörterbuch enthält ca. 200.000 Wörter der russischen Literatursprache der 1. Hälfte des 19. Jahrhunderts, aber auch zahlreiche Termini der Berufs- bzw. Handwerkssprache sowie Sprichwörter u. Redewendungen. - Die UNESCO erklärte das Jahr 2000 zum Internationalen Jahr von Wladimir Dal. - Gutes, sauberes Exemplar.
