Touch of foxing to the fore edge of the last few pages. Very Good condition book in Good condition price clipped dust wrapper with general rubbing and scuffing to the pale cream paper. 49 word blurb by T. E. Lawrence to the front cover of the dust wrapper. Loosely enclosed is an original letter from an ABA bookseller dated 1955, to their customer, referring to the 'freak binding', namely that there is no front free end paper, he assures the customer that the copy has 'not been tampered with'. Dust wrapper supplied in archive acetate film protection, this preserves and prolongs the life of the paper, it is not adhered to the book or to the dust wrapper.

It is the saga of Charles XII, the mad King of Sweden, full of glowing pictures of the life of the period and written in a vivid and beautiful style. Black cloth. Red lettering to the spine. It look as though a front free end page has been removed (neatly) - follows front endpaper. Half title and title pages present. Binding firm and tight. Pages clean. No previous owner names or inscriptions. Bottom textblock edge untrimmed. Reverse side of dust jacket has some old brown tape repairs. DJ has chipped and torn edges with some loss - largest loss to top corner of front cover. Price clipped. The DJ is now protected in a loose archival film sleeve (does not adhere to the book or jacket in any way). 556pp. Very Good/Good.
