Frontis portraits on each volume, selected from the National Portrait Gallery. Block print on each title page depicts the entrance to 'The Albany', Macaulay's abode on Piccadilly Square, hence this edition is called the 'Albany Edition'. Volumes 1-6: History of England. Volumes 7-10: Essays and Biographies. Volumes 11-12: Speeches, Poems and Miscellaneous Writings. Each volume bright and clean with modest wear at crown and base of spine. Firmly bound and square with sharp corners. Front pastedowns show glue remnants; ostensibly from previous owner's bookplate, since removed. No other markings. Interiors very bright, clean, free of foxing. Tissue guards show a bit of offset from portraits, else fine. A very handsome set. ; 8vo 8" - 9" tall.
