Needham's Inferno Toronto, Macmillan of Canada. 1966, First Edition. Hard Cover, 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Red cloth, bright gold dustjacket with red titles,unpriceclipped, 197 pp. Richard J. Needham was raised in India, Ireland, and England. Most of his working life in Canada, from the age of eighteen, has been spent on newspapers. He began as a reporter on the Toronto Star, and went to the Hamilton Herald, as cityu editor. When the Herald stopped publishing he went to the Sudbury Star, and from there to the Calgary Herald. He left Calgary in 1951 to go as an editorial writer to the Toronto Globe and Mail, where he stayed for ten years. He was briefly at the Toronto Star again, and at Maclean's, but he returned to the Globe and Mail in 1963. He calculates that in his career as a newspaperman he has written twelve million words.
