The Whisper of the Glocken.
New York: Harcourt, Brace & World 1965. 3rd Printing. Hardbound 8vo (about 8.25 inches tall) 256 pages. Description: Dust jacket art and interior illustrations by Imero Gobbarto. This is a sequel to The Gammage Cup. In this tale of the Minnipins and the Land Between the Mountains, the villages of Water Gap and Deep-as-a-Well are in danger of being flooded, driving the inhabitants to seek refuge in Slipper-on-the-Water. The last to leave are Gam Lutie, Crustabread, Silk, Scumble, and Glocken who brings with him the Whisper Stone, even though no one knows what the stone's markings mean. This group of unlikely heroes met the five Outlaw Heroes from the first book, and begin an urgent and perilous quest. Note: the only printed date is the 1965 copyright; code C.3.67 on the copyright page indicates this to be the third printing from 1967. BINDING/CONDITION: mustard color cloth with small black vignette, black spine text; there's a remainder mark on the top edge of the text block (but at least it's tucked up close to the spine so not quite so unsightly), owner's name on the front endpaper, otherwise a Very Good+ book, with a Very Good dust jacket; the jacket is price clipped.
