Early twentieth century exploration of the essentially little known areas of the high desert in what are now northwestern New Mexico and Arizona - the Four Corners and surrounding areas. Illustrated with eight color plates, two maps, other illustrations within the text, mainly from photographs. Red cloth lettered in gilt, color illustration of mountain sheep mounted on front cover, top edge gilt, other edges uncut, 366 pages plus publisher's ads. Covers somewhat soiled and edgeworn, spine a bit faded and spotted, light fraying beginning at corners and spine ends, good hinges (front hinge carefully repaired), sound text block, age-toned but clean pages with some foxing to a couple of the plates, no names or other markings.
